Security policy in the CIS region, especially Central Asia, Islam in Central Asia, OSCE-democratisation policy.
Curriculum vitae
Dr Anna Kreikemeyer studied contemporary history, medieval history and
modern German literature at the University of Erlangen and Zürich. From 1986-1988, she was a scholarship holder of the postgraduate studies' degree programme "Eastern European Studies" at the Free University of Berlin. In 1998, she wrote her PhD on "Russia's capability for peace" at the University of Hamburg. Since 1990, she has worked as a researcher at the Hamburg Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy. Her areas of concentration in research have so far included Russian foreign and security policy and conflicts in CIS sphere. During 2001-2002, she worked on a research project which dealt with the compatibility of Islam and security in the OSCE sphere. Examples were based on secular-Islamic dialogues in Tajikistan. From 2003-2005, she has been working on the research project "Security through democratization?", which dealt with security-building democratic measures of the OSCE in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan und Uzbekistan. Since 2006 she is working in the fields capacity building on OSCE and doing research on foreign and security policy of Central Asian States.
