Background
Elena Kropatcheva was born in Izhevsk, Russia. In 1995-1996 she was a "Freedom Support Act" scholarship holder and studied in the USA. In 2001 she graduated from the Udmurt State University, Russia; in 2002 from Central European University, Budapest, with MA in International Relations and European Studies; and in 2003 from Institute for Peace Research and Security Studies (IFSH) with MA in Peace Research and Security Studies. She also worked as an intern at the Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, Hamburg. Elena Kropatcheva is a member of Russian-German Society in Hamburg and of British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies? (BASEES).
