Research Interest
Central Asia, Kazakhstan, sociology of politics and government, state and bureaucracy, international organizations.
Background
Sebastian Schiek studied political science at the Freie Universität Berlin where he recieved his Diplom degree in 2005. In 2007 and 2008 he conducted field research in Kazakhstan and was a visiting lecturer at the German Kazakh University in Almaty. He received a one-year scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and now holds a scholarship from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. He is a member of the Central Eurasia Studies Society (CESS), the German Association for East European Studies and the German Kazakh Society.
