KURI

Configurations of social and political practices in dealing with radical Islam (KURI)

This research project has explored the tension between preventive and penal approaches in dealing with radical Islam. The aim was, on the one hand, to examine what society demands from the government and civil institutions. On the other hand, the project examines how the problem of radical Islam is perceived and what concepts, methods and possible actions are available to politics, administrative bodies, security agencies and civic groups in order to respond appropriately to radical Islamists in Germany and Europe.

KURI was a joint research project by the IFSH and the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with a total amount of EUR 1.36 million. In March 2025, the results were presented in Berlin.
