Maria Kurando is a Visiting Doctoral Fellow working in the Arms Control and Emerging Technologies research area. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University in Ukraine. Much of her research was conducted while she worked as a research intern at the UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Research profile
Maria Kurando’s work focuses on evaluating the risks to nuclear security that arise from conflicts, wars, and military actions. A significant part of her research addresses the protection of civilian nuclear infrastructure in conflict-prone regions, particularly in the Black Sea region, South Asia, and the Middle East.
