Climate, Climate Change, and Society (CLICCS)
Conflict and Cooperation at the Climate–Security Nexus
Project B3 Conflict and Cooperation at the Climate-Security Nexus investigates interactions between climate change and insecurity dynamics. It is part of the University of Hamburg's Cluster of Excellence CLICCS. Researchers are investigating how societies prepare for security situations that have been altered by climate change. They are researching scenario processes as a social technique used by various security actors to prepare for and safeguard themselves against changing climate futures and their risks. In doing so, they are also investigating the extent to which these adaptation strategies can lead not only to more conflicts, but also to new forms of cooperation in the face of often transnational risks and complex crises.
