Delf Rothe is a Senior Researcher at IFSH and a research group lead in the Cluster of Excellence CLICCS II – Climate, Climatic Change, and Society. As Co-Chair of the subproject Extreme Adaptation to Climate Change, he investigates how communities and states cope with and adapt to the dangerous consequences of climate change. Previously, in the cluster’s first funding phase (CLICCS I), he was a Senior Researcher in subproject B3 Conflict and Cooperation at the Climate-Security-Nexus. Before joining CLICCS, Delf led the project “The Knowledge Politics of Security in the Anthropocene” (2018–2021), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), and was a member of the Sustainable Futures postdoctoral college at Universität Hamburg (2015–2016). He received his PhD in 2014 from the Institute of Political Science at Universität Hamburg with a dissertation on the securitisation of climate change. Research stays took him to the University of Amsterdam (2012) and the University of California, USA (2014/2015).
