Philipp Schulz is postdoctoral researcher at IFSH with a focus on participatory and co-creative methods. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bremen, where he led the DFG-AHRC project “A different kind of war story: Centering love and care in peace and conflict studies” with Roxani Krystalli (University of St. Andrews) and the DFG-project “Exploring the agency of male survivors of wartime sexual violence”. Philipp obtained his PhD from the Transitional Justice Institute (TJI) at Ulster University with an ethnographic study on wartime sexual violence. He previously held positions and did research stays at Uppsala University, the University of Minnesota Law School and the Refugee Law Project (RLP) at Makerere University in Uganda. Philipp is currently also a visiting scholar at the Global Security Programme, Pembroke College at the University of Oxford

Research profile

Philipp’s research explores multiple dimensions of violence, war and peace, from the perspectives of violence-affected communities, and with particular attention to the intersectional gender dimensions of conflict, peace and security.
